SHANGHAI, Jul. 22 (SMM) – Demand for motive batteries grows with the rising number of new energy automobile. Motive lithium batteries also gradually hurt demand for mainstream motive lead-acid batteries, evtimes.cn reported.
Motive lithium batteries are expected to account for 38% market in 2015 with capacity as high as 5 billion Ah per year. In the following 10 years, China’s lithium industrial scale is likely to exceed 160 billion yuan ($ 26.1 billion).
Industrial insiders expect China’s new energy automobile sales to be 0.15-0.2 million in 2015. In Q1 2015, output of lithium batteries totaled 1.04 billion in China, only up 3.1% QoQ, meaning that lithium battery production is far from to meet the need of new energy automobile development. Consequently, demand for high-end motive lithium batteries remains strong.
In 2014, global motive lithium batteries contributed 10012.8MWH to market, rising 109.39% from 2013.
As of May 2015, sales of global electric car were more than 0.75 million. 78,500 new energy automobiles were produced during January-June 2015 in China, compared with 25,000 in June, up three times YoY.
